In response to that last submission:
No. Do not show up to the theatre that early. The cold weather is acting as a deterrent, because people know the show isn’t closing and will be around with the same cast for a whole other year. The only shows you have to start rushing in the early morning are ones with limited runs or with main cast members leaving soon. For BoM, your best bet is to try either an evening show after a matinee or a Thursday. Thursdays the crowd is typically smaller and the line is shorter, but it’s still wise to get there in the early afternoon, at least. I recently rushed the show on a Saturday for the evening show, and I turned up about a half hour before the lotto was due to start and joined the line just in case. Not only did I get in, but the eight people behind me in line were also able to get in.
If you’re coming into the city on vacation for a limited time and want to be certain you’ll get in and don’t mind waiting in the cold, by all means go wait as early as you’d like. But if you live in the area or can go back more than once, I recommend just popping by in the afternoon some time. It’s definitely not something that needs to eat your entire day. I’ve done the SRO all three times on a whim and the longest I’ve had to wait has been five hours. :)
